Aim: To demonstrate the process of osmosis in living tissue.

Apparatus & Materials: beakers, scalpel, sodium chloride (salt), potato strips, petri dish, cork borer and water.

2. Explain the difference between osmosis and diffusion.

3. Explain the terms hypotonic solution and hypertonic solution. Identify which solution in the experiment is hypertonic or hypotonic.

4. Explain how osmosis took place in each beaker with hypotonic solution and hypertonic solution.

5. Talk about the size and texture of the potato strips and give reason to explain your result keeping in mind the aim of the experiment.
